your base was already close and i dont recommend just adding rim highlights, what was lacking was colors in the highlights and shadows, think about ambient light,, warm vs light shadow/highlight and how surfaces reflect color to the surroundings. push shadow darkness and try to paint objects shape in 2-3 tones that express light direction and shape. another topic suggestion is value balance, your original was mostly in the same value range which ends ups making the painting very subtle and very hard to express depth, taking some drastic measures and really thinking how much dark and grey and white you will use will help to combat this. think of it like a budget to spend on your painting. be sure to differentiate these 3 tones, don't make them too similar, and not too drastic. it depends on your style and what you like as well. the same can be said about saturation, if your painting only has bright yellow highlight from the sun but no cooler shadows, the effect of the highlight you put in will be diminished | Artwod Feedback
