I think the contrast is the problem. Try checking the art through black and white filter (use color or hue blending mode colored fully in white or black, that's how you get bw filter with accurate contrast) On note about making art looking like water colour, uhhh, assuming yours is digital, i would recommend using digital watercolor brush | Artwod Feedback
