This is a really cool piece! Lighting can be difficult but there are a few major things you should keep in mind while painting it. First is how many sources of light are there? (The lantern? Is the environment giving off any light?) Second is how strong are they? (Is it the soft glow of a cloudy sky? Or the harsh light of a flashlight?) Third is how close is the source of light? This is something that can also impact the light's strength. If something is closer, it will light something more than if it was far away. The fourth is where doesn't your light reach? How does it cast shadows? If your light source is really strong the shadows it casts will be really dark. It's the same as if your light source was very close. For example, the hand and top of the lantern shouldn't be lit with such a light because the top of the lantern would be blocking the light. So for this piece I think you wanted to have your lantern as the only light source. However, the way you lighted it implies there's a secondary sort of environmental white light in the scene. You can this most obviously on the face, hand, and coffin. If we take into account where the light source is, it's proximity to the subject, and its strength, you'll notice that it wouldn't be able to light the face. The jaw and facial features pointed away from the light would remain in shadow. I went ahead and roughed out the areas the light would hit the strongest.
