Hi, welcome back! Most of my notes are in the paint-over but here are the most important things: 1. Scale. The body of water in the back is much smaller than what you painted. You were right in the thumbnail! The far rocks are also much smaller. I doodled on your treeline just to show how it would improve if you made sure to show distance through scale. 2. "blur" effect through blocking, NOT through actual blurring or gradient. I pointed out what I meant by this in the paint-over. The reason for using blocking instead is you have much more control and awareness over value this way as a big-picture phenomenon, vs. using a low-opacity brush. When I painted over your work, I only used a hard-edged round brush. 3. Downplay contrast in the distance. In addition to saturation decreasing, contrast also decreases with atmospheric perspective. Here, in my rough paintover, I just used a brush on LCh Lightness mode at 50% opacity to make the fix. Ofc try not to use opacity tricks when you're doing these studies in the beginning! One thing you did well here: Using negative space to create the treeline that's nearer (try using lasso or a smaller brush for these, though). Your thumbnail, again, is good (other than that rock being too huge). It looks like the perspective lines you drew in the thumbnail were helpful for you. | Artwod Feedback
