Some things to consider. Based on the position of the highlight, it looks like the light source is directly above and slightly towards the viewer. That means the cast shadow should be directly under and slightly behind the based of the sphere. I also don't see much of a distinction between the value of the core shadow and the reflected light area especially on the right side of the sphere. The case shadow should the darkest.
