Hey there! I wouldn't say it's that complicated, but it does have its challenges, hehe. What I would recommend is drawing contour lines on the cylinder. It's difficult to visualize the volume of a cylinder when you only have a flat shape. Adding contour lines will help you give it volume and, most importantly, indicate the direction of the cylinder. Take a look at the example on the right. The same shape can have two possible directions, which I indicated using contour lines. :) If you're having trouble figuring out the direction, you can use an arrow to indicate which way you want it to go. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your feedback. Your examples helped me a lot, and I think I'm starting to understand those cylinders better. The overlaps will be a bit harder, but I'll redo this exercise and try to get it right. I really appreciate the time you took to help me.
Hi, i am starting to study organic forms at the section 4 of the intro to drawing road, and i am having a hard time with bending cylinders while making them believable. Mine look flat but i don't know how to add 3 form to them or when and how to use t lines to indicate an overlap. Any feedback is welcome and i really appreciate. I know this is something rather simple, but even after so many tries i cant figure it out.
