Hi, it is sucessful value sketch, I think that you capoture the gesture and graphic read nicely. Painting is not about getting the values "right" because there is no right way of painting, since act of painting is a personal interpretation and simplification of a reality. Squeeze your eyes, look for shadow shapes, decide what part of a value gradient goes to which value and will it produce most interesting graphic shape. As you see the lack of precision is something that will come atref the so called milege, the more you paint the more you will start to see and the better you will get. Painting with values is in academic terminology called mass drawing, where your focus is on capturing sorms of light and shadow, and where borders )lines) between object will be lost in 5 values simplification. As for how to progress such sketch: Try to sculpt more form within chosen value by using local value shift, max of 20% of base value change, finess the shapes, add some textures (also treated as local value change) Hope it will gives you some answers, keep up the good work!

Hey guys, i mainly draw and didnt care that much about painting, recently though i grown fond of it. My problems are: I don't really know what to do after establishing the main groups of values, also i think im not getting the values right. And the act of painting itself is really not intuitive for me, when doing values studies i like to go direct painting but i can't say i'm doing it properly either, i think it's mix of values + markmaking issue. What do you guys think? In case i can't reply your comment, every critique is appreciated :)
