Hey, the base expression is just right. I think a lot of the blankness comes from the pure black eyes, so I put highlights. I also decreased the size of the pupils, as the eyes look more shocked if more of the white in the eye is visible. The little bit of hatched blush is an extra. o/

I’m trying to quick sketch a surprised anime character, but the expression still looks pretty blank. I feel like my facial anatomy and proportions are too stiff, especially around the eyes and mouth. Using procreate, any idea?

Unexpected visitor

I want the person on the left to exhibit fear. Mouth is giving me a hard time. other side of the face finally feels right but I expect it could be "shallower?". The rest of the perspective feels right I am just double checking my perspective and form before I proceed.

Face drawing practice

How did I do? Was attempting to do a more harder angle, I really struggle to draw the forehead and the jaw plus chin in this angle. Any critique on what I can fix and improve upon? Btw, I wasn't using any reference except the skull.
