color and outfit design are already past beginner honestly. the thing holding it back for me is depth, everything sits at about the same value so the bear and the coat blend. maybe pick one light direction and darken the underside of the coat and the far leg a bit, that should push the pose forward.

skin tone

I can't seem to get the skin tone right. I'd like to play around more with the shadows and highlights by mixing in a little more color—not just black and white—but I have no idea how to do that.
