Hi! First of all good job, cause you arent that far from understanding the style. What you lack here is strong shadows typical of the disco elysium style, and you have to think about that shift in hue that you talk about just as a secondary light that is visible in the parts that otherwise would be in shadows. I tried to give you a quick overpaint to show what i mean, and i'm sorry if i modified your piece too much, its not my intention. Lastly, the style is a falsely messy one, cause the shapes of light and shadow are very well thought and studied, and i think they used a photoshop brush that mimics water colors (brush properties -wet brush) cause you can see very well the watercolor layers one on top of the other to form the shapes i was talking about, and on the other hand the highlights are full paint, 100% opacity.
