Because you have a more semi realistic style you had a good foundation for the structure actually, I think the issue with your “off” feeling comes from a lack of form clarity. In this specific piece, you’d benefit from pushing your values more (so brighter lights, darker darks), and having a clear light source. But overall if this is a pattern in your work, I’d say improving values and doing form studies (shading spheres and cubes) would help a lot! And I kept the red kind of scheme for the background to keep it dramatic but I think a pure black or white would look great too, just avoid the hair blending in with the background like in the original.

The proportions don't look right and neither does the hair shading so I ended up dropping this art piece for a bit until I feel like picking it up again. But I would love some direct feedback to know what I could improve. Teh hands and nails also look off as well as the clothes. I'm unsure of how I should shade it where the light source should come from to make the whole vibe more dramatic. Also what would be a good background/ color if I want to keep the contrast with the greyscale and red?
