I like the colors! Good work! All texture is mostly decided by the kind of light it's affected by, which requires proper form and shape. What's happened in your piece, is that you've gone really bright with your lights, giving it that plasticky or metal feel. Having a good base foundation on how to shade simple forms is the first step to proper texture. I've painted over your piece, somewhat keeping the composition and colors intact. But what I've gone and changed the most, is that head structure. To really make it obvious where those planes of the head are, this is usually a base I would start from, to then move more into rendering the forms and textures even more. Think about the object. How much light is hitting it? Is it directly facing the light source? or the opposite? How reflective is it? How much light is bouncing off the object and into the eye of the camera? Hope that helps! great work! Keep going! | Artwod Feedback
