Hey! Cool gesture and idea. You seem to understand form and light sources/shading but indeed lack guidance. For process (see A): I would suggest trying to map out values first in greyscale - that way you can map out lighting and define focus points (the lightest, most saturated and detailed parts draw in attention; rest should be less saturated/detailed/highlighted). Then map out base colors, do rough overall shadow and light and gradually move from medium to detailed rendering. That way you won't get lost in the sauce. Don't forget environmental light (e.g. light reflected back from environment as well as in this case light coming from her bag). For colors I would also suggest changing the hue and saturation when picking colors for shadows and highlights (instead of B use C). Lastly consider coloring lineart (alpha lock lineart layer, color it). Hope it helps! Cheers! | Artwod Feedback
