This is a really cool design! I think there are few reasons your character doesn't feel settled into the scene. The first is the lack of a concrete light source. I can't actually tell where it is. The light on the back implies it's behind them, but the sky is lit like the light is coming from the horizon. There is also a bright light under them, but I don't know what's making it. It looks like it should be coming from in front of them and under them. I settled on one behind them and a small one in front of their face to draw attention. The second is your horizon line isn't very clear so the perspective feels a bit off. The horizon should just be a flat line and usually won't curve. I think the last thing is how you rendered the sky. There is a lack of depth which you can create by controlling your values and size of objects in the distance. When rendering clouds, remember that they have volume and should be shaded as such. Be careful and deliberate with your brush strokes. Make sure each decision is intentional. It looks like you were quite confident in how you painted. Try to limit the amount of brush strokes you're making by painting with a larger brush and focusing on the big picture than getting straight into details. Doing line art might also help you do more problem solving in the process before adding colour. I like how much effort you put into it and I hope this was helpful! | Artwod Feedback
