I think you nailed the style quite well. Regarding the lighting: I couldn’t figure out where the light is coming from, and also why he has his tail in front of him. My recommendation for both issues would be to have the usual sunlight from above. But also some kind of flashlight to light him from the spectator’s perspective. That would also explain why he raised his tailfin. I also darkened the scene to guide the focus more on his body and face. I hope that helps!
