Suggestions: Study rock gesture, determine light source, add in secondary shapes with value contrast inside the big rock shapes while describing the forms, add in the cast shadow and ambient occlusion, etc... Add in some atmospheric effects, and the dragon is in the background with that effect...that may add in some depth

Hello, Great job for a first attempt! I have a few suggestions for you: You did a great job separating the image into foreground, midground, and background. I would try to push this even further by making the values more distinct, so each area reads more clearly. Define the light source. Where is the light coming from? Then define the planes. This will help you create more specific and solid shapes in your artwork. Look at the cube I drew as an example. If you need help, don’t hesitate to contact me. =) Happy painting!

Hey AS, I think it is already a good start, see this a a thumbnail. About the dragon: To make the dragon less flat you should bring it much closer to the camera, right now it feels believable, there is a lot of heavy clouds and mist and there is a lot of "atmospheric perspective" (look it up if that is new terminology for you) so for me the dragon is fine. the white rock: I could give the easy advise of, let some of the surrounding's colours bounce of off your rock. But I feel adding more smaller pieces which overlap will probably sell the idea more. I'll explain in general advise. General advise: You can create more depth and integration by creating more overlap in your piece. overlapping elements indicate they are part of the same pictureplane and give a sense of depth. By creating that illusion, our brains will accept that the rock is part of the environment.
