Here's the thing, I would maybe go into talking about facial feature proportions, but actually I think your style has so much character that the slight exagurrations work really well. I love how you handled that expression and simplifying the details throughout these studies. I do agree the lines could look a bit messy in some places. I think generally they look quite confident, but the areas I circled in pink are a bit tough to read/too broken up. I'd love to see you maybe work on 2 layers so you don't have to cut into your lineart. Lastly I think the hair of the right figure is maybe straying a little bit too far away from the cranium so I shortened it, but depending on the movement/action, you could be totally right.
