Hey! Great work so far! First, I made a few adjustments to the character. The arm was a bit too long, which made the hand almost reach the edge of the canvas. It’s usually not ideal to have important elements too close to the borders, so I shortened it a bit to make it feel more natural. On the other hand, the head felt slightly disconnected from the torso, so I centred it a bit more and also adjusted the size of the crown. Now, regarding the lighting, you have two light sources. The fire is the strongest one, and you can use it to create flame patterns that help guide the viewer’s eye toward the character’s face. You also have the magic acting as a secondary light source. This could illuminate part of the character’s face, which would help create a stronger contrast. You could also increase the brightness of the eyes to emphasize that effect. Try keeping the lower part of the scene darker to create contrast with the flames, and make the sky a bit brighter so the character’s silhouette stands out more clearly. As for not knowing what to focus on: Focus on your focal point first. That’s where you want to place the highest level of detail. Then work on the secondary focal point (which in this case would be the magical effect). Keep the rest of the elements at a medium level of rendering so the viewer can visually fill in some of the areas of the illustration. Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
