Hello there! Nice job so far! :D First of all, focus on the clarity of your shapes, since everything feels a bit unfinished and somewhat confusing due to the lack of strong edges defining the characters’ forms. This is especially noticeable where forms overlap (for example, the arm holding the head). Try to make sure everything is clearly readable in the focal areas, since that’s where you want the viewer’s attention to go. The rest can be handled with a mix of harder and softer edges. On another note, try to control your values more carefully to achieve a stronger contrast. Before, it was a bit difficult to read because the mid-range values of the characters blended together, especially due to the lack of a clearly defined light source. Without a clear light source, it becomes difficult to understand where the shadows are being placed, and as a result, the volumes don’t read clearly. I painted the characters with darker values so that the light from the background could help highlight their silhouettes. When using different hues, make sure they stay within a similar value range; otherwise, it can look strange if a very light value appears within the shadow areas. So overall: Readability is key. Focus on painting clear shapes and avoid visual confusion. Study values and how to create contrast, whether that’s light against dark or dark against light. Hope this helps!
