I suggest adding more volume to the hair when you're going more curly, i apologize if it's not curly enough:)) • Heads aren't supposed to be the same size of the hair unless their hair is very thin or bald! • Lighting can be anywhere you want, just pin point where u want and then in the opposite direction that's where the shadows are • For rendering try using color theory or where it looks good like using darker red ish or brown ish to know the difference of the skin and the shadow itself, I don't recommend using black as a shadow unless it fits the art style! • the shape of the head is already great!
