Hi, to paint hair I use this approach: as you mentioned, blocking in big shapes with a color, keep your edges sharp. Neext I select the shape I want to paint inside, here you can do it number of ways: (I am using photoshop) Lock it by a pixel lock available in layers tray list - copy the shape into new layer and make a clipping mask - use magic wand tool to instantly have the right selection active, and paint on new layer Having choosen one of the method I have fun with light and texture . Hope that gives you some ideas for painting hair, keep up the good work! As for portrait artist, I don't know what are you looking for in one? Realism, stlisation. I'd say do research for yourself, and find one who meets your goals. You can go to artstation and scroll sideways to the tab "Portraits" | Artwod Feedback
