Hey! Great job so far! I totally get that frustration when transitioning into digital painting or drawing—especially if you have a heavy hand like I do haha. First of all, it really comes down to patience. Improving line quality takes time, so when you’re cleaning up your drawings, try putting on a podcast or something relaxing to help you stay loose :) Now, keep this rule in mind: Think of thicker lines for main contours, contours on the shadow side, areas of ambient occlusion, shadows not directly affected by light, and overlapping forms. Use thinner lines for internal details, low-interest areas, or places with less overlap. Check the small example on the right. This approach will make it easier to start practicing your line work. Also, try drawing with opacity variation—you don’t always need your brush at 100%. You can reduce the brush size and lower the opacity at the same time to get some really interesting results :) Another tip I was given a while ago: don’t focus too much on achieving different line weights right from the start. Try keeping a consistent line first, and once you’re done, go back and add variation. It’s surprisingly helpful! Hope this helps, and keep practicing! | Artwod Feedback
