Ok I scrapped many different drafts but I'd finalize on saying that the subject lacks texture. If this is underwater and the background is that bright then that means the water is murky and so the subject should be engulfed in that murkiness. Cuz otherwise, the subject stands out too much from the background and doesn't feel like it belongs in it. The light rays are a neat detail but u need to exaggerate it on front of the subject too not just behind. I'm not that good of an artist but I tried my best to give my best advice here. Also the hair is a bit off whether its the values or the hue. Idk u figure that one out lol. Genuinely sunning work tho

This was a struggle for sure. I changed up my ideation process from lineart to lasso tool creating dark flat shapes and then carving out the forms from that. I usually solve all the biggest problems in the lineart phase but with this one I had to solve problems while painting. It got hard really fast juggling everything at the same time without proper lineart to hold my hand. I'm most proud of the fact this is largely from imagination and again a lot of trial and error. Also I like the abdomen area which I did with the lasso tool just trying cool looking shapes. The chest area is not that great, something is off I think (too symmetrical or silicony perhaps). i like this sea slug inspired 'mermaid' a lot/ i would go all out on the idea and add some creepy appendages as its a very unique approach.

Artwod has a strict filter so I had find a way to work around it like changing the eye colour. Sorry about that! I hope it's readable.

I really love the looseness and pose of your drawing, everything seems really solid already. It's hard to give feedback on it, but maybe push the tail back a bitmore. For the belly maybe add the small abs. Then I also suggested making hand/arm smaller for distance and add slight detail. I changed one finger because it drew a lot of attention. Great job on trying out new things!
Thanks! These were really welcome tips. I revised everything you mentioned and I think it improved the image alot. Now I will have to see which things to revise from um9s feedback. Those are not that easy to fix and Mermay is ending so we'll see :) Once again thank you!
