The bard has a slashing look ! To improve on the shadows, try to work in big forms first, then complexify as you go along. An important point to go along with it is to make sure you know where the light comes from, and where it would "hit" the form. For example : The inside of the cape would mostly be in shadow, so i would put it in mostly the same tone everywhere, maybe slightly (but very slightly) going light as it goes down toward the floor.)
