Artist's notes:

I’ve been trying to draw a sad anime character, but the expression still feels flat. The eyes and mouth don’t seem to work together, and I’m not sure what I should change. I think my facial anatomy and shape language need some work. Using Procreate, any idea why?

HAI this is the first time I ever do this feedback thing so forgive me if I'm doing anything wrong LOL My biggest advice for drawing better expressions is to add a LOT of wrinkles. In the edited sketch I've added wrinkles in the eyebrows, under the eyes, a tad bit over the nose and on her mouth! It makes it feel more realistic! I'd also recommend adding a small shine in the character's eyes c:
