Hello! Folds are a really common struggle, and they are tough. Best thing to keep in mind it to use them only when needed. Instead of trying to add them everywhere, try to pinpoint the places where it would crease (under the armpits because of the pull of the shirt, at the joints like the elbows and knees,... and then try to keep the rest as simple as possible. That way, the eye has places to rest in your drawing and it doesn't feel too noisy! (And usually you can also get away with a lot less folds than most people think! It's just about using them in those crucial spots!) Hope this helps c:

I’m trying to sketch anime characters in different outfits but the folds always look random. I think i need to understand form and structure better instead of adding lines wherever. Using pencil, would appreciate some feedback.

maybe block the torso as one simple form first, then wrap only the biggest fold lines around that shape before adding small wrinkles so the cloth sits on the body instead of looking random
