Woops! Forgot the paintover, here you go! c:
I’m trying to draw anime characters with different shoes but i can never get them to look like they’re actually on the feet. I think my perspective and form need work. using ink here, what would you change?

Hi there! If you're struggling with drawing the shoes, try practising simplified feet first because as you pointed out already it is indeed the perspective and form that are key here (and shoes are complex, so practise on a simplified shoe shape first!). Once you have that as a base it's a lot easier to draw the shoe on top. Specifically because as you can see I've drawn a bunch of help lines on the foot to indicate the form and the middle line going down from the leg to the toe box (pink line). Since this is the middle of the foot, features of the shoe like the laces should follow that direction (green), and you can see in your original drawing, they were moving away from it, making it feel a bit flat. So do something simpler first, because that offers a lot of support for you to draw on top of! Hope this helps!! :D
idk if more shoe detail helps first, maybe draw the foot as a wedge then wrap the sole around that bottom plane so it feels attached instead of floating under the ankle
