I’m struggling with facial planes and adding shadows/detail to my drawing. Basically, adding highlights and blush to make the image look less flat. I tried to add some highlights but I feel as though it doesn’t actually look like highlights. I also want to add details and light to the hair and texturize the curls more. Thanks!!!

Hey there! Good job here! :D Sorry for the asymmetry on the face haha Anyway Check out Asaro's head. It will help you a lot to understand the planes of the face! Some apps allow you to rotate the head so you can see it from different angles. And another that can help you is Reilly's head. That will mostly help you to learn to manipulate proportions by keeping the planes in mind. For dark and light skin tones, look for references to avoid painting from imagination :D The more you study the skin tones, the more you'll "memorize" it and be able to paint from imagination later. Regarding the hair. Think about each mass of hair as a cylinder, at least those at the top that are more important, since they are part of the focal point. Keep the rest rough by indicating only the general form. Hope this helps!

June Sketch Day 8

Late post, fell asleep after got back from vacation. I drew these three from references to sharpen my visual library. Probably as much as i needed before hopping into drawing from imagination. To me, there's a lot room for improvements, because these drawing still not great. If you have any advices, truly i'd be grateful to hear it. Ignore the top left, its from yesterday :)
