Hey! So cool character! It looks so cool so far :D Regarding the values. It’s always a good idea to keep checking your values. You can do this by using a black-and-white adjustment layer to switch your painting to grayscale, or if you’re using Adobe Photoshop, you can press Ctrl/Cmd + Y to toggle to values. On another note, the background you were painting on didn’t help the character, because it was very bright and ended up dulling both the brightness of the flame and the lighting on the character. Notice that when you paint over a dark background, the character stands out much more. Here you’re using a light-on-dark relationship (in general, try to aim for light on dark or dark on light to achieve better contrast). Now, assuming the main light source is the large flame, and the secondary light is the smaller flame, you could focus on illuminating only the areas close to the flames and leave the rest in darker values, instead of lighting almost the entire character. Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
