Hey! Well done so far! It's a solid base already :D Defining the light source will help you a lot to push the portrait. I believe that the main light source would be great at the top right, while the rim light on the left side will stand out the silhouette. You can paint the graphic shape of the shadow using a multiply layer, and use a soft light to refine the lit planes of the face, so you can paint on top of it to better refine the rest of the portrait.
