Hello there! Nice job here! It's a solid base :) The problem is that you’re not considering two things: – Where the hair originates from – The overall shape of the hair (even thinking in terms of its basic organic form) The front part is the confusing area, since you have different blocks of hair, and it’s not even clear whether one of them is hair or the ear (where is the ear?). Keep in mind that the hair originates from the centerline at the top of the neck, and this line extends toward the ears (while maintaining that central origin). Hair does not originate from the forehead, nor does it split into two at the forehead, forming that onion-like shape you drew. I’m not familiar with your reference, so I searched for something similar to the type of hair movement you suggested. I divided it into three blocks: the bangs, the hair between the ears, and the hair that grows along the neck. This makes it easier to start adding gestures to the “ribbons” of hair. Since there are different types of manes in horses, I recommend always using references. And if you don’t understand what’s happening in the reference, simplify it into organic forms, either by tracing over it or studying it separately. But try to understand how it works in real life before translating it into your drawing. Highly recommend this short: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/g0O-65-50Iw Hope this helps!
