Even if the goal isn’t to paint with a wider value range and you want to keep the lighting somewhat diffused, you still need to define the volumes more clearly, since right now the figure looks slightly flat. Notice that I painted slightly darker shadows on the cheek, nose, torso, arm, etc., while still keeping them within the overall value range of the painting. This helps avoid shadows that are too dark and would feel out of place compared to the rest of the illustration. Hope this helps!
