“idk if the folds need more detail so much as a few bigger light and dark breaks on the shirt, that might make the bagginess feel more intentional next to the really clear head shadow”

“maybe give the eyes a quieter pocket first. leave one side of the frame emptier so the heavy shapes dont pull away from the look”

“idk if stretching normal luffy works here, maybe block the torso as one big round balloon first then add short thick limbs so the squash reads before the face details”

“idk if more pieces are the fix, maybe lock one clear outer silhouette that follows the shoulders and hips first, then add one accent like a belt so the body still reads under the clothes”

“maybe block the torso as one simple form first, then wrap only the biggest fold lines around that shape before adding small wrinkles so the cloth sits on the body instead of looking random”

“maybe start with one long action line from the head through the supporting leg, then tilt the ribcage and pelvis in opposite ways before adding the limbs. that should help the lean read as a run.”

“maybe set the eye line across the head first, then check the nose and chin against that tilt before changing the forehead distance”

“maybe keep a few box and cylinder guides under the shoulders and hips before refining the costume, so the pose stays solid while working from the reference”

“maybe keep the environment shapes simpler at first, then add the small details once the foreground and background read clearly”

“maybe its less about the line quality and more that the photo is faint so nothing reads. before redrawing, try blocking the head as a simple ball plus jaw and mark the eye line across it, then place t”

“idk if shrinking both eyes is the move. the mismatch is louder than the size. maybe match the lid opening first so they sit on the same line, then tuck a bit of the iris under the top lid so they dont”

“idk if its the anatomy so much as the kneeling pose reading flat. the thighs and the shins are almost the same length so the legs feel like they fold in place. maybe shorten the front thigh a bit and ”

“maybe the placement isnt the main thing. the side view reads ok, its more that the jaw and neck sit on one flat line so the chin loses depth. kinda helps to tuck the neck back a bit under the ear and ”

“for that quiet room feeling maybe let the light do it. one soft lamp glow on her side of the bed and the rest of the room a bit darker, keeps the mood soft without adding much detail”

“the facing profiles already read. maybe a darker plane under each cheek would sell the heads more than extra linework”
