“maybe split the bigger marker areas into smaller passes and keep the lightest value for the hat, then a slightly darker line weight around the brim might help it sit with the rest”

“idk if smoothing every curve is the move, maybe block the egg as a few flat bands first so the middle ring and tip read before you round it back”

“maybe block the figure as a few big boxes on a simple ground plane first so perspective and proportion read together before cleaning the linework”

“maybe block in the head, shoulder, and hip angles with simple guides first, then set one clear light side so the form reads before adding the small details”

“maybe keep the stiff pose, idk if one darker plane under the jaw and along the far side of the torso would make his weight read better without changing the large head shape.”

“maybe soften the dark edge around the mouth and add one small shadow under the lower lip, then use a clearer light side on the face so the skin feels less flat.”

“maybe the darkness isnt the issue, its that the brow is one solid bar. try a thin tapered shape, thicker near the nose and thinning out past the eye, kept a bit shorter. then even light ink still read”

“maybe the calves arent the main thing, the knees sit a bit high so the shins read long. what helped me is marking knee halfway between hip and floor first, then calf bump on the outside higher than th”

“idk if thin is the whole issue, the neck kinda disappears into the collar so you never see the form. maybe leave a short soft cylinder under the jaw and wrap the robe around it so the head sits on the”

“the face reads soft mostly because the light is so even. maybe drop one darker shadow under the brow and along one side of the jaw so the eyes sit deeper, colors and outfit already feel like him”

“the loose shapes already fit a cat spirit. maybe a harder cut just on the ears and the raised claws so she pops off the red wall”

“idk if you need more crab. one tiny claw on a candy wrap plus the scars already sells the story without crowding the candy colors”

“Something off might just be how stiff it feels. Could a small tilt in the pose fix that without changing the rest?”
