Hey there! First off, this is a seriously badass design. The intricate Lovecraftian details, the root wings, and that eerie eye on the sword are all super cool. You have a great eye for dark fantasy elements! I did a quick paintover to explore the lighting and visual hierarchy, but with a big disclaimer, I only suggest pushing the lighting this dark if your commission brief allows for it! Sometimes clients want every single detail perfectly visible and evenly lit, so definitely defer to what they asked for. If you do have the freedom to push the mood, here is a breakdown of the changes: Contrast for Glowing Objects: In the original, the ambient lighting is quite bright across the whole canvas. When everything is well-lit, a glowing object (like your awesome green sword) loses its impact because it has no shadows to contrast against. Controlling the Focal Point: In the paintover, I drastically darkened the background and the character. By essentially "turning down the room lights," the emissive green light from the sword becomes the absolute focal point. Letting the shadows swallow some of the secondary details actually creates a much moodier, cinematic atmosphere and makes the weapon feel incredibly powerful. Dynamic Energy: I also added a few sweeping light trails in the foreground just to add a bit more movement and magical energy around the blade. Again, if your client needs the character brightly lit, definitely stick to your original! But if you have the freedom to play with the atmosphere, using darker shadows is the best way to make your glowing elements truly shine. Keep up the amazing work! | Artwod Feedback
