Hi! First of all, I LOVE this piece. It’s so soft and elegant with a dash of ethereal look to it, and I hope I did it justice with the modifications. I darkened the birds to start it off, to give it a stronger sense of depth; objects at the front are darker than objects further away from the viewer because as depth increases, particles in the air like dust, mist, and moisture scatter natural light. It’s called aerial perspective if you feel like it. Plus, it makes the values better; I used a white layer in color mode to check if the values were alright and I found that they were kind of flat at the beginning, so darkening the birds creates a frame of dark values to surround the girl in the painting, and, in turn, make her stand out more. Secondly, following the same principle, I added a gradient to the sky, making it lighter where the light is and darker towards the right side of the paintings. This should give it a slight touch of realism that scratches the brain in the right places while maintaining the manga look to it. Lastly, I fixed her face a bit, moving the mouth closer to the line connecting the nose and the chin for more balance in the face and squished her head a bit because the head was too large.
