Howdy! I love the detail you got in the hair! And the solid black shirt makes for a bold, silhouetted style. I wanted to help you address the anatomy/proportions some. When I was looking over this I was struggling a little trying to figure out how you were trying to place your character - if they were looking straight or down slightly. In my draw-over I opted for a slightly bowed head. Starting there I wanted to give you a few general pointers for placing facial features: 1) you can think of the eyes as 1/5 the width of the face - this gives you a good starting point for determining not only how far apart the eyes are, but how much skull there is on the outside of the eyes. 2) Where the ears connect to the face lines up with the eyes and the ear lobes line up with the bottom of the nose. Looking at someone who wears glasses is a good real world example of the top line (and helped me understand ear placement). 3) Even with the character looking down slightly there is to much skull at the top. Hair /does/ add volume, but with the tight braided hair style you have here the shape of the skull is much more prominent. 4) To the shoulders! The way you have the sleeves wrapping around the shoulders suggests that your character is pushing his shoulders forward, almost like he is "shrimping" a bit. It didn't seem like that was the intention so I pushed his chest out more to make it seemed a bit more relaxed. Hopefully these pointers help you out! I can't wait to see what you do with it! Happy drawing!
