Hey! Well... It seems like you're struggling with everything, although I'm not sure if you mean in general or specifically with this illustration... Either way, overall it looks good! I like the composition. :D What isn't quite working is the lighting, since there isn't a clear focal point (even though it should be the character) because everything is illuminated in the same way. You indicated some rays of light, so think about how everything within those rays should remain illuminated, while the rest of the scene stays in shadow. This way, you create more visual interest and reinforce the focal point. :) Notice how the character is now clearly the focal point, since that area has the most contrast and information, while the clothing becomes secondary.
