Hello hello! You have a pretty good base to work on! I would start by asking yourself a few questions: What is the role of a character? Where is it set? From which period do they come from? What is their background? Along with these, I would also try to answer: do I want stylized or realistic? Its important to have everything answered before we dive into character creation. Now based on what you are creating, you will also set some goals. If it's personal art,you dont have to be strict with every detail and experiment but if its for portfolio, then we must dig deeper on character purpose. With this comes a lot of research. Here I pulled references that are following the same kind of subject,in two different styles. The middle ground of both worlds would be a semi realistic approach (its the realism with elements of stylization, similar to it would be comic art). In your art I tried to break the silhouette based on how I view the character. Try to avoid a symmetry in artwork. Designs tend to look too perfect and we want some imperfection to make design more intriguing to watch. Above everything; get inspired by other artists who are working in similar subjects or find video games/movies/animation in a similar vibe. Hope it helps! Keep up! | Artwod Feedback
