Hi hi! The character looks interesting and I like the pose you picked here! Make sure your linework is clean before beginning any rendering. You need to have strong linework because, as we can see, it is still in the sketchy stage. You should certainly not neglect that section as you mentioned it is for a comic. The core of comic design is linework, and you will spend more time producing lines than shadows. Use thicker linework for shadows (occlusion) and focal points while thin lines leave for folds, material textures,hair and places where light hits the most. Once you have done that, move on flat colors on separate layer and start cell shading (also on a separate layer). Beside good light and shadow placement, dynamic comes from knowing how to set fold properly so we can see figure movement. On top of everything I highly recommend to check out Patrick Brown. He did lot of stand alone heroic shots in his comic style and he also has a video explaining how he creates them. Hope it helps!
