It's really cool that you're doing full scenes from imagination! That is something I still struggle with but I hope I can help. I think the best way you could enhance your art would be if you started thinking about perspective and your characters in 3D. Which you can start by drawing a perspective grid and drawing primitive forms. I went in and roughed some primitive forms and guide to show you how keeping in mind where the horizon line is and its vanishing points makes adding depth to your image much easier! You also asked about adding shading which can help you understand forms. Try to understand why some shadows go where and thinking about how the form rotates and would cast shadow in a 3 dimensional space. Just make sure to choose a single light source to make it easier. Your ability to draw from imagination is really good and I'm excited to see how you develop!
