Really cool art! I want to know more about them! It can be tough drawing a dark environment, but I'll try my best to help. I noticed that you went a bit crazy with the bounce light. I think some studies on how light interacts with different colours and materials will really help you. -For example, you said the hair, robe, grass, and dress all blended together and that's because these 3 things should be reflecting the light differently. -You mentioned that you thought everything was too dark, but if you were to change your drawing to greyscale, you'll notice that all of your tones are heavily in the grey range and your values mesh together. It would actually benefit your piece by darkening everything. Especially the foreground. A good rule of thumb when doing an environment is to have your foreground be a darker and have higher contrast while your background should be lighter and have less contrast. Because contrast will draw the viewers eye away from your character (focal point). Again, change your image to greyscale and pay attention to how much contrast and attention your background is demanding. You can then compare it with my drawover to see how I try to draw the eye to center. -Speaking of focal points, I think more time thinking about composition before starting your piece could also help! -For example, In your original drawing, you had two trees bracketing your character. Having multiple verticle objects will only compete with your character for attention. You should instead think of ways to use the environment to lead the viewers eye to where you want it. In my drawover, I curved the trees and had them slope toward the character and even the branches point toward the center. Do some thumbnails in the future and your work will instantly improve! I hope this can help you become an even better artist than you already are! | Artwod Feedback
