I myself have did a study on the same image sometime ago , but my art-style was different (adding that image for a reference ) Your study was really good , but you are going for semi realism style (i would assume ). If i were you I’d lose the outline of the form to make the values transition in a more natural way , and yea, i agree with your observation,if the shadows were a bit darker it would’ve added more depth

I'm struggling with adding depth to my value study as this study was originally supposed to be a 3 value study but found myself adding a 4th value for the highlights. I did notice that my shadows could be darker and I forgot to add bounce light in the shadow.
