Hi, that’s a great illustration. Really cool idea. I wouldn’t worry too much about the rendering. Instead I would focus more on the form and pose. The way your character is standing feels a little awkward. Is she standing or is she supposed to be crouching? It’s not very clear and it’s not a natural way to stand so I’ve sketched in two examples to consider. I also changed the arm holding the knife. If you have her holding it in front of her it will help tell the story of her protecting her children.

This character is based on that picture, somehow the rendering is off. I would love to have some advice, but anatomy , design or other advice is also welcome
