Hello! Your art is super cool! I would say that it's easier to make decisions about contrast once everything is somewhat shaded. Once you do that first pass, you can think about what areas need more or less contrast and adjust accordingly. In general, when deciding on which parts need higher contrast, consider which areas you want to stick out more. Here, it would probably be the face and the dessert in the center, right?
