Before: One of my oldest and first digital paintings from 2011, but I realised it's not even a true reflection as back then I traced and directly color picked from a photo reference.

Hi Artletes, Here is my base sketch in prep for the digital painting. I really tried to focus on the volumes and constructing the forms of the face. I'd appreciate any thoughts and critique on my portrait, especially proportions and structure.

I feel his expression is a bit flat. Maybe you can emphasise the squint in the eyebrow and the smirk on his smile a bit more, I also feel his left temple (so our right side) is a bit too wide, and ear too. Try to flip the image, this will make you view it with a new perspective.
