This is amazing! The hatching is so lovely and textured, the material indications are amazing, it says so much with just two values! It's so high fantasy and imaginative. I butchered a lot of your delicate work with resizing and rough lines, but I hope you see what I mean. What I did to make the figure more readable is, cut into the sihouette (around the head, sweep the cape more to the side), angle the sword differently to add a space between it and the body, make the second leg visible. "Breaking up" the silhouette is really the name of the game here. Make the elements distinct from one another. Same reason for why I increased the arc, so there's more space between it and the figure. But I understand it might interfere with the storytelling, since it looks like he is reaching for the gemstone / relic in the arc, so take that move with a grain of salt! You could also just make the outline of the arc thinner. Again, I loved the original!
ah yes, that figure reads much better now! Will keep that silhouette carve out in mind - thank you so much for the paintover!
