If you struggle with everything like you said, it's best to just start at the beginning and take it step by step. try to familiarise yourself with volume and perspective while drawing basic forms. that way you can practise your elipses and 3D insight skills (blue). I actually really like the doodles up top, but for the guy standing on top of the cilinder, try practising the simplified loomis head first (pink), because that way you can give yourself a really solid bit of support in terms of volume, angle, curve and proportions of the face.
