Hello there! Nice work so far! The first thing I'd recommend is avoiding painting on a completely white background. Working on a mid-tone or darker background will help you maintain much better control over your values. Now, the values in your painting are currently too high. Since metal is a highly reflective material, it will reflect whatever is around it (obviously lol). If you look closely at the reference, you'll notice that the environment around the still life isn't actually very bright. In fact, it's fairly dark, except for the direct light coming from the lamp and hitting the vase. Another important thing to keep in mind is that even though metal reflects its surroundings, the reflected colors usually have a lower value. That's why the tablecloth appears brighter, while its reflection on the vase appears darker. Hope this helps! | Artwod Feedback
