Getting someones likeness is all about proportions. I started by looking at Jays proportions by drawing the Loomis structure over the top. I noted that his eyes are about half way on his head. The distance from his chin to the bottom of his nose is the same distance as the distance from his hair line to his brow line. That’s fairly typical of the ideal Loomis head, however he has a slightly longer nose (his brow to the bottom of his nose is slightly more than 1/3rd. His nose and eyes all share the same width but his face is less than 5 eye widths wide. Once I had a rough idea of those proportions I could then draw a Loomis head onto the body and apply those proportions to the basic framework. I can see I messed up his jawline and didn’t draw it symmetrically. The beauty of this method is that it allows you to position the head however you want. So long as you understand the proportions and basic structure of the head you can draw it from any angle you want. I really liked how you handled the foreshortening of his arm. You maybe made his neck a little too thick but that’s an easy fix.
